IMHO depending what is most important for you: Garmin does not have food tracking built-in, so you have to sync with a 3rd party services. that only the Garmin is capable of pairing with an external HRM, which is a huge plus against Samsung and Fitbit as wrist based HRMs and strength training do not match well (if you´re not wearing an Apple Watch 4 or later that is). that Fitbit has a record of hardware issues (battery, screen sources: my own experiences ( two Fitbit Charge 2, 3 Fitbit Ionic, then giving up on them), their official forums, a very good friend who does scientific studies at a university and always has to have several Fitbits as a backup for failing ones during the studies) and Nothing to tempt me away from Garmin but if you go with a Sense I’m sure you’ll like it. □ Also I googled a review for the FitBit Sense because I was curious. But when I first got the Fenix it was laughable how bad the sleep tracking was. So even on that score it’s probably a tie. So if your wife is in the FitBit ecosystem there’s one reason to go that way - but I still do not think I would.ĮDIT: Sorry, wanted to add that Garmin’s sleep tracking has actually gotten a lot better. PS: My wife uses Apple Watch and I do hate that we are on different platforms. Is that still true? I picked Fenix primarily because it looks a little higher-end for me to wear to work, and battery life. The original Venu was just coming out when I was shopping, and I thought it was great. Garmin does all of the things you mentioned exceedingly well, and with a little time and planning you can pre-program lifting routines (I currently have custom workouts for rings and parallettes). If I were going through a full comparison the ONLY thing I believe FitBit is better at is sleep tracking. I used FitBit up through Charge 2 (I think it was) and jumped to a Garmin Fenix in 2019. I would also like a battery that can last 3 days. I've used Samsung health in the past (2 years ago) on my smartphone and was really underwhelmed. I don't know if I would keep with it or only use it when actively cutting/losing weight.Ĭurrently I'm leaning towards the Garmin Venu 2, closely followed by Fitbit Sense. In the past (before COVID-19) I would go to the gym 4-5 days a week. This differs from my wife who prefers to focus on walks around the neighborhood/town. I've heard other devices can pair with it through 3rd party apps, but I don't know if that is worth doing. I have a Polar chest strap that I use for heart rate tracking. I am now interested in getting a fitness tracker, but my needs are a little bit more than just general health tracking, so I am looking for input/help. It motivates her a lot to move more and eat better. My wife got a Fitbit Charge 3 about six months ago and loves it. Hopefully that is ok, I'm interested in getting multiple perspectives with Venu 2 being my primary interest so far.
